Mount Holyoke's Summer Study in Beijing
This summer, 17 students will participate in Mount Holyoke's intensive eight-week course in Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). And we mean intensive. The students will complete a full year of Chinese in the eight-week period!
The students will attend lectures and language drills in the morning and work in pairs with a "language partner" in the afternoon. They also will experience China's rich culture through elective culture courses, such as Taiji boxing, Taiji sword, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese songs, and cooking, and through trips to cultural sites such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. They will see performances by the Beijing Opera and the Chinese Acrobats. Two of our students have agreed to blog about their experiences.
